Patrol Division
The Patrol Division consists of 4 Sergeants and 9 Patrol Officers. This section is responsible for the day-to-day enforcement of Municipal and State Laws, and ensuring the safety of the people and property of the City of La Junta. Traffic Enforcement is the primary responsiblity of the Patrol Division. Officers use the latest in radar and laser speed detection technology and are trained in accident investigation, DUI enforcement, drug interdiction and immigration enforcement. These tools help officers ensure that our motorists arrive at their destinations safely as well as gather the evidence that they need for the successful prosecution of traffic violations.

The La Junta Police Department is seeking young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20 who have an interest in exploring law enforcement as a possible career.
The Explorer Program is Learning For Life’s career education program for young men and women, providing experiences to help young people mature and prepare them to become responsible caring adults.
Through Service Learning Explorers will receive Life Skills, Character Education, Leadership Experience and obtain Career Opportunites.
