     A Message from the Chief

Welcome to the La Junta Police Department website. I hope you will find it informative and easy to navigate. The men and women of La Junta Police Department and I take great pride in providing professional and courteous law enforcement services to the citizens of La Junta. We recognize that our job is a partnership with the citizens of La Junta, a partnership that requires an open information exchange. The Police Department has the duty to provide information to the citizens we serve to enable them to protect and provide personal security for their families. In exchange the citizens have a duty to provide the police with the information that leads to a safer community. This information exchange empowers our community to be a safer and a more prosperous place to live. If you have any information to assist us or are in need of any police services, please feel free to contact me or any member of my staff. The La Junta Police Department non-emergency phone number is: (719) 384-2525.

Thank you,

Are you interested in serving your community?

For the last 50 years the citizens of this community have come forward to help the Police in serving the needs of La Junta.  2009 is the 50th Anniversary of the La Junta Police Reserve program.  As we start the new year we are looking for a few good men and women to join us in our goal of protecting and serving the citizens of La Junta.  After being accepted into the La Junta Reserves, the police cadet undergoes over 200 hours of training.  This training involves a variety of topics to include: Criminal Code, First Aid/CPR, Arrest Control, and Firearms.  After completion of the La Junta Reserve Officer Academy the Reserve Officer is expected to give 12 hours a month to assist the patrol officers during their routine duties.  Reserve Officers patrol the town while enforcing both state and local laws, under the guidance of a full-time officer.  Reserve Officers complete reports, write tickets and assist the department in furthering our mission, "Committed to Community Needs".  Reserve Officers are an integral part of the department and are a much needed asset.  If you are interested in joining the La Junta Police Reserves, or would like more information, please send us an email to lajuntapd@hotmail.com.  Please include your full name and a phone number to contact you.

Thank You,

Gilbert Davis, Reserve Lt.
